The 2025 Outstanding Holocaust Educator of the Year
Selena Masse
This year we honored Selena Masse of Orange Middle School. Ms. Masse teaches 7th grade social studies and draws extensively on speaker testimony, authors, film, and other experiences to make deeper connections for students.The award was presented to Ms. Masse at the Holocaust Remembrance Day program on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
The Outstanding Holocaust Educator Award recognizes K-12 teachers who have had a positive impact on their schools and the wider community in the field of Holocaust, genocide and human rights education. The award was established by the Center for Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education of North Carolina to honor individuals who actively, by their example and through teaching about these difficult subjects, strengthen North Carolina students’ world-citizenship and capacity to uphold the dignity of all persons.
