The Reluctant Accomplice: An International Holocaust Remembrance Day Event
Dr. Halperin will interview historian Konrad H. Jarausch about The Reluctant Accomplice, a powerful collection of his father's wartime letters from the Eastern Front, while Dr. Ferrando examines the psychology behind how ordinary individuals become "reluctant accomplices" in devastating acts through a uniquely medical and psychiatric lens. This event is made possible by the support and sponsorship of the NYMC Office of the Chancellor, the NYMC Phillip Capozzi, M.D., Library, and The Center for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education of North Carolina. Registration is required.

Facing History & Ourselves Workshop
Beth El Synagogue, Judea Reform Congregation, and Jewish for Good invite you to take part in a 4-session workshop designed to help engage in meaningful dialogue surrounding antisemitism. Facilitated by Facing History & Ourselves, this workshop was created to empower educators and community members to recognize antisemitism and provide their students and community at large with the tools they need to stand up to various forms of oppression. The cost to attend is $18, which includes lunch and access to all sessions. Scholarships available. Session 1: 11am–12:15pm — Building Community and Cultivating Brave Spaces. Session 2: 1:15–2:30pm — Understanding Antisemitism Past and Present. Session 3: 2:45–4pm — Media Literacy and Online Antisemitism. Session 4: 4:15–5:30pm — Impacts and Action.

An afternoon of History, Candle lighting, Music, & Prayer featuring a special presentation of "The Story & Survival of Teresa Allerhand Poleski and Maurycy Pufeles" by Stephanie Poleski. This program is a partnership between Jewish for Good, Beth El Synagogue, Judea Reform Congregation, Kehillah Synagogue, and members of the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Community.
Courage in the Classroom
The Holocaust Speakers Bureau invites you to our upcoming event honoring two local Holocaust survivors, Renee Fink and Lex Silbiger, and presentation of the 2026 Holocaust Educator of the Year Award to Erin Bryant. Film Screening (10 minutes): "Tracks: Stumbling Stones Amsterdam" — a heartfelt documentary exploring the laying of "Stolpersteine" memorial stones honoring Holocaust victims, installed in front of homes along the central canals in Amsterdam. Educator Professional Development — Stories that Shaped a Nation (FREE)
A free, full-day professional development opportunity for educators. Led by an expert educator from the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History. Participants will leave with ready-to-use, grade-appropriate lessons and the tools to facilitate classrooms grounded in curiosity and respect, and to help students engage honestly with identity, belonging, and the full complexity of American Jewish life. Lunch and continuing education units are provided.
