Eva Schloss — Anne Frank's Stepsister

Eva Schloss, Anne Frank's stepsister and a Holocaust survivor, spoke to audiences in the Durham–Chapel Hill area. Eva survived Auschwitz and has dedicated her life to Holocaust education and remembrance. Her visit was covered by the Herald-Sun and the Duke Chronicle.

Annual Durham–Chapel Hill Yom HaShoah Commemoration

The annual community Yom HaShoah commemoration brought together the Durham–Chapel Hill Jewish community and the broader public to honor the memory of Holocaust victims.

Duke Coalition for Preserving Memory — 24-Hour Name Reading Ceremony and Closing Ceremony

The Coalition for Preserving Memory at Duke (CPM) hosted its annual 24-hour name reading ceremony, designed to memorialize the victims of the six U.N. recognized genocides. Students, faculty, and community members read out the names for a 24-hour period in the middle of Duke University's campus. The name reading ended with a closing ceremony at 12pm on April 10th, which included lunch.

Holocaust Survivors' Interviews — USHMM First Person Series

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) hosted Holocaust survivors' interviews in a series of one-hour programs at 11 a.m. ET Wednesdays and Thursdays between April 5 and May 4. To watch live and learn more about the series, visit ushmm.org/firstperson.
